Lower the drawbridge ... I'm on my way home!"

"A man's home is his castle," is a very old saying. but the sentiment is still very much alive. And. by the way, women feel pretty much the same about home. And home automation is making the castle more comfortable than ever before.

This couple wanted to enter their home and be greeted by a choice of music options to suit the current mood, and wanted television and video available virtually everywhere. And they wanted it all to fit into a home that was light. airy, and very open. They wanted both the sound and the visuals to be very big and bold when in use ... and invisible when not.

The sound solution was a Crestron Home Automation System with an Audio Request Media Server Music System throughout the house, accessed by wireless touch panels and convenient in-wall keypads that are state of the art. According to the homeowners, the text on the touch-panels lets you know exactly what you're selecting, making it very easy and user-friendly.

Whole house speakers are unobtrusive and custom-painted to blend into the walls.

The master bedroom has a 65-inch big-screen TV with a wireless touch panel for easy use. which can be docked in the wall when not in service. and a wood facade to hide the components. The facade was created to match the furniture and the flooring and become an integral part of the décor.

In the family room, a 50-inch plasma TV pulls out and swivels so it can also be seen in the kitchen area, where guests always seem to congregate. Speakers are located left, center. right, and behind you above the windows for total surround-sound. The lower level entertainment area features a large game room and adjacent home theater.

Lights ... dimmers ... even opening and closing the doors that hide the Family Room 50" Fujitsu plasma screen - can be controlled from the remote, or set on automatic to open or close when the system is turned on or off. In addition, the Crestron system integrates security, lighting control, and even the telephone system.

A house that is this full of sound, light, and life at the touch of a button gives new meaning to warm and cozy. A true castle, indeed!
